What is the snow removal policy in Tollgate Crossing?

• With the recent snow storms and extended below freezing cold weather the Metro District Board of Directors and the management company have been getting a lot of inquiries about our snow removal policy.

• The Tollgate Crossing Metro District is responsible for snow removal in all the common areas (walkways) including the clubhouse and the park. This also includes the area surrounding the mailboxes.

• The general rule is 2" or more inches of snow fall for the crew to start plowing the common areas in the Metro District. There maybe exceptions for snow removal of less then 2" inches.

• For instance many days of extreme cold when the snow will not melt. Activities at the Tollgate Crossing clubhouse. Or the sidewalks leading to Buffalo Trail Elementary school.

• However, the Tollgate Crossing Metro District and the management company  is currently working on changing the old snow removal policy which was implemented many years ago.

• With the amount of snow this year and the cold temperatures lasting more than a few days we realize the 2" inch snow removal policy may not be very practical.

• We are moving forward to follow the City of Aurora snow removal requirements expected of homeowners which is to clear the snow within 24 to 48  hours after it stops snowing.

Need a new trash can. Who do I call?

Several owners have requested information as to how to obtain a new trash can to replace an existing one that is damaged or to obtain an additional one. Waste Management will replace your Waste Management trash can if it is damaged at no charge. The Association will only pay for the first trash can and the first recycling.  Please call Waste Management at 303-797-1600 and speak with a representative in their residential service department for current pricing and availability.

Mailbox Problems?

*In the next couple of years the Metro Board will be replacing all the Mailbox clusters.

• Several residents have recently expressed concern regarding the maintenance of their individual mailboxes within the cluster box unit where mail is delivered.  The homeowner has the responsibility for the repair of their individual box and lock mechanism.

• They can contact the post office (located on Tower Road) and pay approximately $40.00 for the repairs or the homeowner can work with a local locksmith of their choice to have the lock mechanism replaced.

• If the homeowner isn't able to access the mailbox, the post office will hold the mail for pickup at the Tower Road location, if requested. It is imperative that the homeowner, when speaking with the post office about repairs needed to the cluster box unit (CBU), let them know that the CBU is not private property and that there is no one responsible for its maintenance.

• Mailbox keys are distributed by the post office.
