President

Richard Martinez

Richard Martinez - I lived in Tollgate Crossing for 18 years. I am the very first homeowner to move into Tollgate Crossing III.

I have been serving on the Tollgate Crossing Metropolitan District Board of Directors for over 12 years. I have also served on the Tollgate Crossing HOA board of directors.

I originally volunteered to serve on the Metro District and HOA boards of directors to be involved in the community transition from developer/builder to homeowners.

During that time, Brian Matise (first homeowner to serve on the metro district board) and I along with other board members discovered the developer/builder was "short changing" Tollgate Crossing homeowners. This is when I knew I really wanted to be involved in the growth and future development of Tollgate Crossing.

It has been a challenge and very humbling experience to serve the homeowners in this community.

The biggest challenge was going through the housing crisis of 2008 and the abandonment of home builders in Tollgate Crossing. Along with Brian Matise, the current board members and all previous ones, we were able to take control of the community from the developer that was walking away from our development like so many others did in the Denver metro area at that time. Upon several years of lawsuits, negotiating and planning for Tollgate Crossing the metro district board members, present and past, have a much better developed community than originally planned. Tollgate Crossing is now one of the most financially stable and affordable communities in southeast Aurora.

I am truly honored that the homeowners of Tollgate Crossing have trusted me to serve them this long on the metro district board of directors.

My philosophy is to put the interests of Tollgate Crossing and all homeowners before anything else while making decisions about the future of our community.

Assistant Secretary

Doug Webb

Doug comes from a military background - aka "military brat". My father was a retired Navy man. I joined the Air Force out of high school and spent 6 years in it.

I got my college education at San Jose State, in California.

I married my love, Barbara Webb in Oct 1991 and we are going strong.

We have four grown young men, 3 of which have completed and graduated college and the fourth is in progress. We now have living with us, my
wife's brothers, younger kids, 17 and 13. Our house is never boring. We moved to Colorado for 25 years, following a job in IT.

I attempt to play golf and am a member at Springhill Golf Club.
I am on the board for the club as if this year.

I have been on the City of Aurora Golf Commission for 3 years now. My term ends in April 2023.

I have been on an HOA board in the past and now have been on the Metro District board for 9 years.

I hope my term on the Metro board has shown some improvements to the neighborhood. I take appointment serious and strive to make this community the best we can be. My term will end in 2 years and at that time I will move over and let younger folks take over and continue our movement to a better community.

Vice President

Shelly Gregory

My husband and I have lived in Tollgate for 16 years. We moved to Colorado from Illinois where we were both born, raised, worked and started a family.
I went to Southern Illinois University and majored in Biology. I have worked at University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus, for almost 15 years in both the Cancer Center and the School of Medicine, Dept. of Pediatrics.

Jim and I have been married for over 34 years. We have two daughters, who are both married, and four grandsons that we adore. We enjoy traveling and are looking forward to retirement.

I have served on the Metro Dist. Board of Directors for 5 years and also served on the HOA Board for 6 years. I care about the Tollgate Crossing community and want to see our homes and community property maintain high standards and values so we can all be proud to live in Tollgate. Thanks to our Board members,

Tollgate Crossing is in an excellent financial position and we are now able to renovate our Community Center and will be making major improvements to our pools and community park. I am proud that we have also been able to ensure that our community stays safe by installing cameras at the entrances and have employed a security company to patrol during the night and early morning hours to help deter any unfavorable activity.

I am honored to serve on the Tollgate Crossing Board of Directors, along with some wonderful people who also care about our community!

Assistant Secretary

Dennis Lawson

Dennis joined the Army at the age of 17 earning my GED during basic training. I served for 18 years until I was injured and retired. I have worked in several different careers since my military service, OTR truck driver, law enforcement, IT. I am now serving as an pulpit supply/vacancy pastor here in Colorado.

I have degrees in law enforcement, computer and technology, as well as M.Div. and PhD in Christian Apologetics.

My bride, Lynn and I married May 1998, we both have children from previous marriages, they live in other states with the exception of our youngest TJ who lives here in Aurora. Between us we have 10 children and are blessed with 27 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. I consider myself a rich man blessed beyond what I deserve.

Things I like to do other than serve the Christian community are, read, hike with my dog, travel and spend as much time as possible with grandkids. This is my second term on the Metro Board, I take very seriously the responsibility of considering what is best for our community and acting accordingly. I believe that input from our neighbors is vital in this endeavor. I also serve as President of Newbridge HOA and take the same philosophy into this position. I am serving my third term on the HOA, the last two as president.

Please do not be shy or hesitant in sharing your vision with the board members as we move forward in being community together.

Secretary/Treasurer

Brian Matise

I have been a resident of Tollgate Crossing since June 2005. I was the first homeowner elected to the Tollgate Crossing Metro District Board in a contested election in May, 2006 and have been re-elected at every election since then. I also was the first homeowner elected to the Tollgate Crossing HOA.

As the first homeowner on the Metro District Board, I worked with the four developer representatives to transition the District to an all-resident Board in December 2007. As a Board member, I have dedicated my efforts toward sound financial management, paying down our debt, and improving the Metro District’s services while keeping taxes low.

I worked with the Board and residents to adopt an amendment to our service plan and refinance the District’s debt, lowering the interest rate dramatically from 7% to 2.8%. I led efforts to redevelop the Newbridge community which had been abandoned by the former developer. In 2018, I proposed eliminating monthly fees and shifting some of the interest savings on our debt to operations, saving the average resident over $300 a year.

More recently, I have promoted better safety and security through our license plate reader system and security patrols. I also proposed a new investment policy to allow better returns on our investments, so that we are actually earning more on our investments than the 2.71% interest rate on our debt.

When I am not serving on the Metro District board, I am an attorney at Burg Simpson law firm. I have also been active in advocating for stomach cancer patients, as my wife Kathy Matise unfortunately passed away from stomach cancer after a remarkable fight. We are a wonderful and safe community in Tollgate Crossing, in which we all look out for each other.

Thank you for your trust in me. I look forward to being your neighbor for many years to come.
